best deal EVER

I've been collecting Coke points on and off for the past 6 months. I got an email from them a few weeks ago that said that my points were going to expire if I didn't use them. I didn't have enough to get any of the big ticket items but I think I came out a huge winner here... I was able to get a bunch of 'one free 20 oz. bottle' coupons. Now here's the kicker... the Amoco in Maple Lake always has a buy one get one free offer on Mr. Pibb 20 oz. bottles. So, with each coupon, I am getting 2 free bottles of Mr. Pibb. Life is good!

Twins Fest 2009

This has been a weekend full of baseball! On Friday night Dustin and the boys went to Twins Fest and got autographs from Kent Hrbek, Tony Oliva and Harmon Killebrew. On Saturday I joined them for another day at the Metrodome and we were able to get autographs from Justin Morneau, Jesse Crain, Ron Gardenhire and Joe Nathan. Dustin and the boys went back again today and secured the autograph they wanted most; Joe Mauer's. We were also able to get in on the batting cages, a clubhouse tour and other fun baseball stuff!

Miles asks Joe Nathan how fast he can throw a fastball. When he answers 98 mph, Miles chimes in (with a big grin) "Mine is 99 mph." Joe got a kick out of that.

Ron Gardenhire was really nice. He offered to lean in so I could snap a picture of he and Linus.

Linus took a picture of Miles, Dustin and me.

it's been awhile...

Even during the post Christmas wind down, it feels like we've been running at full speed.

The cold spell last week was a big hurdle. The kids had Thursday off from school and had a late start on Friday. Add in the fact that they had inside recess for several days and you get kids that need to burn energy... and unfortunately it sometimes comes out in fighting with their siblings!

Dustin has been helping his mom finish up the last part of her basement. His sister and her 4 kids moved back from Fargo and will be living there for awhile. He's been over there quite a few evenings trying to get it all done.

I've been volunteering at the boys' school... it's nice that they still think it's "cool" to have me there. I also spent last weekend scrapbooking at my friend Shelley's house. I worked on an album for a friend's friend... and got paid to do it! I've thrown the idea around for some time now; to start a scrapbooking business. You wouldn't believe how many people have said they would pay me to scrapbook their pictures! I have to wait until Greta starts kindergarden next year before I can really consider starting it but it was fun to do the first book to get a feel for what could be to come.

I can hardly believe that we're just about half way through the school year. It seems like just yesterday I was sending the kids out on their first day of school. I'm definitely ready for winter to wind down... bring on Spring!! I can't wait to see green grass and flowers blooming.

check it out!

My dad just called to let me know that he and my brother may be on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives tonight at 9 p.m. on the Food Network. Long story short, my brother Bill knows a guy from a restaurant in Minneapolis. The show came to the restaurant (i think it was last summer) and Bill and my dad were invited to come down and eat while they were filming. I don't know if we will even get a glimpse of them but I'm going to watch with an eagle eye to see if I can spot them!

Fiesta Bowl

I have never really paid much attention to college football but tonight that was what was on my t.v. as I was folding laundry. I caught the end of the Fiesta Bowl game (the Texas Longhorns vs. Ohio State) and I have to admit that it was a fun game to watch. It came down to the final minutes... well, seconds really. But after all is said and done, the question that begs to be asked is this....

How can anyone feel good about themselves while wearing a uniform like this?!

dedicated

Last Friday Miles had a crown come off one of his teeth. It wasn't causing him any discomfort but I was concerned because it was leading into the weekend... what would we do if it started to bother him? All was well throughout the weekend and on Monday I called into his dentist to ask when he should come in to get it fixed. The receptionist was very nice but had to give me the bad news that Dr. Dennis was on vacation until January 5th. She made an appointment for Miles (actually squeezed him in) for the firt available appt. in Monticello once Dr. Dennis is back. Then she took my name and phone number down and told me that she could give him a message about what was going on. I gave her our info but told her not to make a special call to him... I really didn't want to interrupt his vacation with his family. It was barely an hour later when I got a call from Dr. Dennis... and he was so kind. He asked how our Christmas had been and talked to me about Miles' tooth. He reassured me that Miles would be o.k. until he got back but gave me his cell phone number just in case we needed him. Then I found out that he and his family were vacationing in Puerto Rico (he has family that still lives there and they go back to visit every other year.) Friends, my kids' dentist was on vacation in another country but took the time to call to me about our problem AND gave me his personal cell phone number just in case we needed him. Seriously... it doesn't get any better than this man. I'm trying to brainstorm a way to say thank you but I haven't come up with anything yet. Any suggestions?
