Merry Christmas

(from Luke chapter 2)

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.

the mom song

I've heard this before but it never gets old... and this version has the lyrics right on the screen.

Gingerbread Houses

Today I was at the school making gingerbread houses with Linus and the rest of the 1st grade. It was crazy but so much fun. The kids showed some real creativity with their houses... and enjoyed eating the leftovers!

Holiday Tea

I went to Greta's preschool on Wednesday for their annual Holiday Tea. I love listening to the songs that the kids have practiced. And the sugar cookies are to die for!

Snuggie

No, I'm not talking about what happens when your undies get all bunched up. It is the latest product from an informercial that Linus and I want. Does it look dorky? Yes. Will it work better than a blanket? I'm not sure. Do we need it? Yes. Check it out here.

The Mother Letter Project

Calling all moms out there... if you haven't heard about The Mother Letter Project yet, check it out here and consider sending your own letter in. This husband is doing a great deed for his wife this year for Christmas.

Baby it's cold outside!

The title here refers not only to one of my favorite wintery songs (I suppose because Buddy and Jovie sing it in the movie Elf) but also to the gross weather we're experiencing. Cold temps and sleety-snow makes for a good day to hang out at home.... and what better way to pass the afternoon than making Christmas cookies?

...and what kind Christmas cookie making afternoon would it be if I didn't create a Patrick cookie from SpongeBob?

Christmas concert

Grades 1-3 had their annual Christmas concert last Thursday at school. I love going to these, especially because there is always at least one of "those kids"... you know the ones... wiggling around or staring at the ceiling or something. This year, one of the 2nd graders was pretending to slap himself in the face in a rhythmic fashion during their rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It was a classic funny-because-it's-not-my-kid moment!

awesome product

My friend Shelley told me about Clorox Stain Fighter & Color Booster. She used it to get grass stains out of several pairs of jeans... and swore it worked. I was aprehensive, especially because it was almost $10 for a fairly small bottle, but I bought it and have not been disappointed! Linus spilled grape juice all over the front of his shirt a couple of weeks ago and I tried the Clorox... and it ALL came out! The best part is that you don't have to use it in the wash cycle; just put a little on the stain or soak clothes in a tub with a small amount and presto!... stains are gone. Using it just on the stains will make it last longer... and really, even if only took out a handful of stains per bottle it would still be cheaper than having to buy new clothes!

gingerbread houses

While I was out Christmas shopping today, Dustin and the kids made these gingerbread houses. From scratch. I spend the money and Dustin makes timeless memories with our kids... We make a good team.
