Merry Christmas
(from Luke chapter 2)
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.

Baby it's cold outside!
The title here refers not only to one of my favorite wintery songs (I suppose because Buddy and Jovie sing it in the movie Elf) but also to the gross weather we're experiencing. Cold temps and sleety-snow makes for a good day to hang out at home.... and what better way to pass the afternoon than making Christmas cookies?

Christmas concert
Grades 1-3 had their annual Christmas concert last Thursday at school. I love going to these, especially because there is always at least one of "those kids"... you know the ones... wiggling around or staring at the ceiling or something. This year, one of the 2nd graders was pretending to slap himself in the face in a rhythmic fashion during their rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It was a classic funny-because-it's-not-my-kid moment!
